The EPF reintroduced the special loan facility to its members in the year 2000. Under this scheme, members with three years of their regular contribution to the EPF are eligible to take loan up to 90 percent of the amount accumulated in their PF account. This facility is provided against member's deposit in PF account. This facility is renewable every two years. The borrowers may repay the loan either lump sum or on installment basis. Subject to revision, the current rate of interest on this loan is 6.75% p.a. Till now about 290,000 EPF members have benefited from this scheme.
